The Kidnapping written by Eduardo Montes-Bradley, takes place in a fictitious South American republic known to a few as Rio Hondo. The story set in the mid-nineteen seventies, begins with Bruno (Tobias Meinike, Germany) a German-esque revolutionary arriving in Rio Hondo to ignite the spark of a revolution. Bruno advertises in a local newspaper requesting volunteers to assist in a kidnapping. The ransom money is to be used to start the rebel army. Three individuals respond to the call of liberty: Carmen (Sandra Ballesteros, Argentina "The Dark Side Of The Heart"), an ex-masseur, Luis (Luis Fernandez, Venezuela), a fine boy from Rio Hondo and Mario (Adam Black, Spain), an unemployed steel mill worker. The four will form the first cell of this historic movement bound for glory. Unfortunately, they kidnap the wrong man, Renato Cefalu (Lazaro Perez, Cuba, "Mambo Kings", "The Perez Family") who doesn't have a dollar to his name and whose wife Teresa (Alex Pertile) is not so anxious to get her husband back. The Kidnapping is a farce dealing the irrational aspects of the recent political past of Latin America. A politically incorrect approach to human misery and a tragic comedy with a peculiar tropical flavor.
